OUR MISSION:
1 - FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS.
We believe in and fight for the fundamental rights of everybody without any kind of distinction or exclusion. We especially work towards full equality for LGTB people and transsexuals, and against any type of social discrimination.
2 - BARCELONA MEETING POINT AND MELTING POT
We believe in a Barcelona that as an international meeting point is a melting pot of cultures, a city of dialogue, and of commitment to equality. This is also the EuroGames 2008 philosophy. We want the Games to provide a meeting point, a place for everyone to share good times and enriching experiences, including Barcelona. We firmly believe that Barcelona will be a starting point from which everyone can spread this diversity on however small a scale to their own lives in order to finally make this dream of diversity a reality in the world at large.
3 - MEDITERRANEAN GAMES
We want EuroGames 2008 to have a clear Mediterranean influence. Games that share with and offer to everyone the happiness that the sun and the sea bring. We are working to encourage and welcome all the Mediterranean cities to these Games, and especially, all the cities of Spain.
4 - NETWORKING
We believe in teamwork as a tool of understanding, of shared knowledge and of effective and long lasting results. We promote teamwork as an element of training and visibility, especially inside the LGTB community, maximizing the sum of efforts, of experiences, and the acceptance of homosexuality and transsexuality as a normal part of daily life.
5 - WOMEN’S RIGHTS
We fight for full equality between women and men. We want an end to any kind of discrimination, and especially an end to the psychological and physical violence which is often seen in our still sexist society even today. We are especially concerned about lesbians, since they are doubly discriminated against, firstly for being women and then again for being lesbians. We are working towards a greater visibility so that their message reaches all areas of society and in the same way, can enrich its diversity.
6 - CHILDREN’S RIGHTS
We defend the rights for children to have a full life, to have access to a non-discriminatory education steeped in rich diversity, and to the joys of play. We reject child labor and sexual exploitation and we condemn the use of children in wars. We need a firm commitment by everyone to protect children due to their vulnerability, and their dependence on the family and society.
7 - FIGHT AGAINST HIV.
We are working for the prevention of HIV and for an increased social awareness about the disease. We are also fighting for clearer politics in favour of safe sex. We are aware of the serious consequences that this epidemic has in the developing countries and we are fighting so that the medicines are available to everyone. We denounce any type of discrimination against the people that live with HIV in any situation, including the workplace, social and sporting events.
8 - COOPERATION IN WORLD DEVELOPMENT
We believe in a world without hunger or wars, a world of equality and of freedom, in which our diverse experiences are valued positively and bring enrichment to the people and maturity to society as a whole. We work for democratic and decentralized cooperation, promoting activities and actions that take gender into account, towards a peace loving culture, and economic, social, and cultural development in every part of the world.
9 - RESPONSIBLE ECONOMY
We are working towards a responsible economy, without exploitation or impositions by a powerful minority. We reject the business politics of labour exploitation that are being carried out in various countries and we want to raise social awareness of the need to work for a world which is more economically stable and fair.
10 - ENVIRONMENTAL COMPROMISE.
We assume the responsibilities and accept the consequences that our actions have on the planet. We defend a model of society that works to maintain and conserve the natural world that surrounds us. We are fighting for a universal, ecologically sound, energetic and economical model which is sustainable and viable in the long term.
