Additional Information about the competition!
Each participant can enroll for a maximum of 6 individual events plus relays (which can be mixed).
The competition will be held in accordance with the general international competition rules and those of the Catalan Federation of Swimming (Federació Catalana de Natació). The Catalan Federation of Swimming is a member of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).
The competition is open to all swimmers over the age of 18 years. The age on the 31st December 2008 is the age which will be used in the classification of the groups.
In order to be able to participate in the competition, you must be in possession of a valid license for any one of the federations affiliated to FINA.
Those wishing to participate who are not in possession of such a document can apply for one (valid for the period of the competition) during the registration process. The organizer reserves the right to request and investigate any documentation presented.
The non-participation of any competitor in an event must be communicated to the appropriate judges before the start of the competition.
Timekeeping will be performed electronically. In the event that the electrical timekeeping equipment does not work, timekeeping will be done manually.
An event with any false start will not be repeated, unless the false start is due to the organizing committee. Any competitor who makes false start will be automatically disqualified.
The assignation of swimming lanes will be performed strictly in accordance with qualifying times. The competitions will be arranged according to participant age (AK). (AK 20: from 20 to 24 years of age. AK 25: from 25 to 29 years of age. AK 30: from 30 to 34 years of age. AK 100: from 100 years upwards).
Less able-bodies swimmers will be assigned a lane along with the other competitors according to swimming times. They will be allowed to start the competition with the help of assistance if necessary, or directly in the water. The groups will be made up strictly according to age, without reference to type or degree of disability.
The organizing committee of the swimming competition reserves the right to make changes to the program according to their needs, including the venue should it be necessary. Competitors will be notified as soon as possible of any changes..
Categories
The following age groups will establish categories:
CAT-pre-masters less than 99 yrs
CAT-1: more than 100 yrs (100-119)
CAT-2: more than 120 yrs (120-159)
CAT-3: more than 160 yrs (160-199)
CAT-4: more than 200 yrs (200-239)
CAT-5: more than 240 yrs (240-279)
CAT-6: more than 280 yrs (280-319)
CAT-7: more than 320 yrs
Swimmers from the category pre-master will only be able to participate in the premaster events.
Swimmers other than pre-masters may participate in all events including participating in pre-masters events.
Each participant may sign up for a maximum of 6 individual events plus relays.
EVENT PROGRAM
A more detailed race schedule will be available once registration has closed.
The competition will take place at the Barcelonta'92 Olympic swimming pool. It is an outdoor 50m pool. Warming up will be in an indoor 25m swimming pool.
